Why can’t I swim in Stacey’s Brook?

It may look inviting, but this historic waterway in Lynn and Swampscott contains bacteria from sewers and stormwater. Exposure can make you sick. Stacey’s Brook has connections to toilets, broken pipes and outdated systems, creating a nearly constant bacteria count in the outfall and the nearby beach areas.

For your own safety, please don’t swim or wade here! Your safety is our concern! The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) and Lynn and Swampscott are working to fix this issue.
